HENRY J. "HANK" ROMSTAD

1944 - 2003
age:59

Henry J. "Hank" Romstadt, 59, of Martin, OH, and Marathon, FL, passed away at home Monday, September 29, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A 1962 graduate of Clay High School, he was an Army veteran, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Hank was a "Spec 5" specializing in turret artillery repair. He also received honors for marksmanship while in the service.

In the 70's, his interest in carpentry led him to become a partner in R & T Construction for about 10 years. In 1982, Hank established his own company, Henry J. Rom&tadt Construction. He was a self-employed general contractor for over 3ft years in both Ohio and Florida, until last spring when illness prevented him from working.

A homebuilder and remodeler, his passion in life was his work, especially jobs that were challenging. He lived his life working in a profession he loved. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing off the shores of Marathon in the Florida Keys, where he lived and worked during the winter months. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially bid euchre.

For 34 years he was the loving husband and best friend of his wife, Marcia J. Along with his wife, Hank is survived by his mother, Dorothy Romstadt of Curtice; brother, Marty (Lisa) Romstadt of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters, Ruth Ann (Charlie) Sheehan, Phyllis (Charlie) Bickford, Jeannie (Don) Murray, Betty (Mike) Csehi and Rita (Phil) Glesser, all of Curtice and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo H. Romstadt.

He was a hard-working and compassionate person who always put the needs of others before his own! He did so much for so many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him including the family beagle, "Charlie".

Visitation will be at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home in Genoa on Thursday, October 2 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bono on Friday, October 3, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
